I am an author cheerleader because I understand the process of writing, publishing, and marketing. It isn't as easy and glamorous as it often looks. Over the years I've helped others because some people have helped me. I believe in "paying it forward" and you can too.
Some authors have a limited budget when it comes to producing books. For this and many other reasons, some authors supplement their income in other ways. Some use Patreon as a way to make money while they create their works in progress. Two examples are James P. Sumner and Jay Tinsiano. As you can see when you visit their pages, in return for monies from patrons, they offer exclusive deals.
Some authors are like me and want to support other authors, so they provide a venue to do so. Diabolic Shrimp created by Joshua Grant, is one of those places. He has lots of ways for authors and readers to connect and share their love of books. When you click on one of his ads, a portion of the money is used to help other causes.
Some readers are part of an author's fan club. They get emails alerting them to the newest books or what is going on with the books and authors that they love. Sometimes the author has a Facebook group where their readers can get insights or behind-the-scenes looks on the writing life and books in progress. If you belong to either of these things, I hope that you remember to support your favorite author when it becomes time for the newest book to go public. Share about it on social media or word of mouth. Explain why you love this book without giving too much away.
One of the best ways that readers can show their support of authors is to write reviews. Although reviews are never required to read a book, it does help out. Some customers, when searching for a new-to-them book like to know what other readers have thought about it. Not unlike shopping for an appliance...did this product work for others. That could be why some reviewers choose to do their reviews on their favorite book platform such as Barnes & Noble. Other reviewers post blogs. Some post on Goodreads or other places where books are being discussed in great numbers. BookBub is a place where readers of all genres can give a quick recommendation on books they find there. I'm on there to make recommendations from time to time. Feel free to follow me and see if I've posted something new during their weekly email updates: https://www.bookbub.com/authors/lynn-hallbrooks
Whatever way you choose to support an author, I hope you do so with positivity, grace, style, and avoid spoilers when reviewing books.

This Just In - Ways to help Authors and Readers Alike

It doesn't matter what we do or which side of the book we are on, we are all fellow Earth dwellers. In this spot, I am going to share links to information that I receive which relate to those Earth dwellers in the writing and reading world.
My author friend, Jeff Dawson, was recently interviewed on CUTV. He shares about his life before writing, the reasons why he began writing, his first books, and his current works. After you click a couple buttons and listen, you may discover a few life lessons tucked in there that everyone can relate to on some level.
The Legend of Secret Pass has gone from book to movie and is now available through Red Box.
Show the Love, save a school!
Damyanti Biswas, fellow author and blogger, has been volunteering her time to raise funds for Project WHY. If you would like to participate in a Blogathon, which will run from 14 February 2019 through 28 February 2019, to help raise funds for this cause, then visit this blog post to learn more. If you don't blog, that's okay, you can visit this link, learn about a special gentleman/teacher and decide if you'd like to give and/or share.
Short-list Finalist
I heard that the Best of All Gifts by Sheila M. Cronin is one of the finalist in The Wishing Shelf Book Awards. It is taking a little time for them to upload all the books to their website, so in the meantime, enjoy viewing what they have available. You never know what might inspire you.
